Items delivered didn't match items ordered and delivered 13 days late
I placed an order for 28 x bars of Tony's Chocolonely and paid for the premium DHL delivery service that is advertised as being delivered within four business days. The Dutch Expat Shop indicated that one of the types of chocolate that I ordered wasn't available and they issued a credit memo so that my original order was reduced down to 26 x bars of chocolate. The package arrived with South African customs within 48 hours of my order date and I paid the appropriate customs duties on the same day. The indicated delivery date was scheduled for the 1st of October 2024. After lodging several inquiries and complaints with DHL last week, the package was finally delivered this morning, a full 13 days later than the indicated delivery date and the box was missing 2 x chocolate bars with only 24 x bars of chocolate delivered. This is now the second time that I've ordered Tony's Chocolonely from the Dutch Expat Shop and on both occasions the really expensive DHL delivery option proved to be false marketing with the delivery date being more than 10 days later than advertised. The most recent order was even worse because not only did I pay for a premium delivery service that wasn't received but I also paid for 2 x chocolates that didn't get delivered. It's easy for DHL to try and blame South African customs for the delay but the reality is that the Dutch Expat Shop didn't follow-up once with DHL to inquire as to why the service that they sold to me on their website wasn't met. In addition, why was my package missing 2 x chocolates for which I paid not only for the chocolates themselves, but also the delivery premium delivery charges, and the customs duties thereon.
